The ancient tradition of St.Ives feast day was today in St.Ives.
The school children from St.Uny wearing ivy headdresses danced through our town to Cornish music, and wearing the Cornish tartan.
The procession carries on through town where from the church yard the Mayor hurls the silver ball onto the beach. The children have one hour to throw the ball to each other to hand back to our mayor as midday strikes and be given prize money.
Pennies are thrown to the little ones to catch from The Guildhall.
The hunt meets at The Western to honour tradition and the anti hunt meets to share their views. Every year the banter goes between the two forces and the crowd enjoy joining in.
Faces old and new come together once more in St.Ives.
