As a wedding photographer I have spent hours over the years with brides, taking photos of them doing the final preparation for the biggest day of their lives !
Its a really special time and I am honoured to be part of it. I really enjoy taking makeup shots and I always look forward to the end result to start my wedding albums.
Obviously I am not working weddings at the moment, but I have lots of time at home with my girls hanging out. ( thats what our homeschooling is like ! ) and I realised i have never ever been part of my eldest daughters preparation moments ! The girl who only a year ago claimed she would NEVER wear makeup, she does, not a lot, but she does. So I asked her if i could spend some time with her putting her make up on. I love the fact that she does the same routine every morning as she does in ‘normal’ life. I love that she clearly does it just for herself as we dont see a single person at the moment. I love these photos, very different from bridal prep, a bit more real, a bit more raw. I love the messy crazy dressing table only a 12 year old would dare to own, I love the crazy pointy nails that you can only get away with out of school time, I love the observation I got to partake in that I would never normally have time to do in the morning, getting two girls to school, a dog to his walk, a business to run etc, etc etc …. Precious moments ill treasure. Thank you 12 year old for letting me in to capture these moments.
