I was flicking through a magazine today and I was reading an article about the amazing Nicky Grant, Cornwall’s answer to Jane Asher!
Nicky Grants cakes are so lovely, her chocolate cakes are quite delicious!
Basically this article was saying how brides are moving away from the traditional fruit cake and going more for the full on chocolate numbers. So it got me thinking about all the cakes we have seen at weddings in the last couple of months. Now I love a traditional fruit cake myself, has to be with the royal icing though. This is a rare thing nowadays, as even if you go for the traditional fruit cake the icing is usually funky and shaped and therefore its the fondant. Not as tasty, but easier to work with.
So we have had lots of cupcakes, in all sorts of flavors ( I personally like Cakes by Design , Amanda does a fab sponge)
Lots of chocolate sponges, I agree with Nicky Grant on this one, and a fruit cake every now and again, usually with a sponge tier, just in-case the guests don’t like the traditional fruit.
We had both at our wedding, lemon sponge for Ricky and fruit for me , and guess what I didn’t eat any of it…. I was far too busy!!!
