I have an on going project, its going to last 13 years. I have a little girl whose middle name is Bluebell, and for the last 4 years i have taken her to the bluebell woods and taken her photograph, I have a frame with 13 windows in it and i vow to fill all those windows, one for each year. I also have another little girl, her middle name is Fleur, and her flower is the bright sunny daffodil. This year is her second daffodil photograph. Ricky found the most fantastic field and we arrived, the sun was glorious, and we were promptly joined by two other photographers who had the same idea ( but no little girl to pose in them, so my photographs are bound to be better!)
As the old saying goes “never work with children or animals’ my little bundle of joy, doesn’t like fields of daffodils, well I guess they were the same height as her, so maybe it is quite daunting, so we had our work set out, as everytime we stood her down, she burst into tears. With much silly faces, jumping around and generally acting the fool, she smiled “click’, then she laughed ‘click, click, click” did I get the perfect shot… maybe a few more, to make sure, she smiled again ” click” then sat on the floor and bawled her eyes out, time to go. The results I will try to post up, when we get a moment. My dream is to get a bride one year in a field of daffs, stunning!
With children you have to be quick, sometimes you have to be silly, and always you need to get on there level. Especially at a wedding. Weddings are long days for children, food is not served at there normal time, meals are even missed, tiredness sets in and then there’s a photographer! I love photographing page boys, bridesmaids and little guest, but there’s an art to it for sure. At one wedding there weren’t any children, but the bride did bring her two dogs, they were lovely and I didn’t need to pull a silly face, but one did wee all over the hotel foyer floor!
Just found out The Cove in Cornwall hosts wedding’s. I would love to photograph a wedding here as i absolutely love the venue ( had many a happy cream tea in the restaurant )
