Isnt it amazing how a teenager, who really would rather be left alone, not spoken too and wants to keep adults well at bay can totally transform herself in front of a camera?
We thought this particular shoot would be a tough one after getting the brief from the parents. But it was a bit of a bonding excercise between mother and daughter and hopefully with a nice set of keepsake prints at the end of it all.
Well, we have just done the final edit, and we can honestly say its going to be a tough choice for the parents. The smiling, laughing, posing professionally!!!!!! was not the girl who entered the studio!
It made me think, what does the camera do to people.?
In some cases it can inhibit, this usually doesn’t last, and we manage to loosen up even the shyest ones. In this case it brought out the real, sweet, kind, game for a laugh girl she really is until the dreaded teens crept in! the camera brought out the best and honest side of her. There was no need to act the fed up part that the mates expect to see, gone were the rolling eyes and the permanent pout and a little bit of childhood crept back in. The mother was over the moon and the carefree gift left, dare i say with a slight skip in her walk….bottom line…….SHE LOVED IT!!!!!
