We always stand by the fact that we want KISS Photography to produce beautiful photos without any attitude, we want to slip into the background as much as possible and blend in when we can. Of course sometimes there has to be direction, but before we took up wedding photography full time we went to a lot of friends weddings as simply guests.
When slowly our photography careers changed direction and our work was starting to come away from the advertising campaigns and fashion shoots i organized and all the massive stress involved, and Ricky wanted to work for himself a bit more and channel his talents into our own business and work less corporately, we started to be asked to shoot weddings. I love the detail and beauty that goes into a wedding, i love the excitement of the day, the happiness of the guests and the different emotions that go on throughout the day, the nerves, the fun, the crying mother of the bride, the proud groom, the happy grandparents, the excited children. I love standing behind my camera capturing it all and being a witness to the biggest day of a persons life.
We often in the early days chatted about what we wanted Kiss to be and not to be. We wanted to to get the most fantastic photographs possible, and yet not take over. We didn’t want to be bossy and shout to get the groups in place, we wanted the day to remain as special as precious and personal as it is. We wanted to be friendly and easy going and not add any pressure onto the bride and groom.
Today we had a lovely comment.
Ricky was on the phone, chatting about a wedding print order with a client when he mentioned what a lovely day they all had and how some of the wedding guests thought we also were guests! At first I laughed, then when I thought about it I was so pleased that I feel we have cracked what we always wanted, we must have blended in, we must have been discreet, we must have achieved what we aimed for. They must have thought we were pretty game guests to take so many photos, go off to the beach with the bride and groom and not even have a drink in hand!! Gosh we were so into our photographs we didnt even sit down to eat !! But on a serious note we were chuffed and would like to thank Jasmine and Peter for their kind words.
