Marianne and Craig got married yesterday at The Carbis Bay Hotel. After a week of lousy weather, on Saturday morning the sun shone, the skies were blue, and we said PHEW! Marianne looked stunning and elegant in her ivory fitted dress and veil, and Craig was in his Navy Uniform and looked so very smart. The three beautiful boys had suits and converse on in bright colours and looked so very cute. Last night I took out my mum’s wedding photographs. In those days weddings were organised differently. My Mum worked in a boutique, so the dress was from there, Aunt Joan did a lovely buffet; so she did the sarnies, the local village hall was booked and Uncle Len had a camera, so he was the photographer! It was a lovely day, filled with friends and family, nearest and dearest…. the photos, well they were just rubbish.. Today is St.Ives Feast day. Another inspiring day for me. An ancient celebration of total ‘Cornish-ness’ and I loved it. The procession through the cobbled street with the children dancing traditional dance to the music to the holy well, was quite haunting. I felt like I was in another time, you could almost feel the ghosts of long ago, dancing too. The colours of the Cornish tartan, and the mayors red robes, the green ivy everywhere was beautiful. Came home yesterday from the Handmade Wedding Fair feeling totally inspired and feeling like I should be baking bread while learning to make lace! The wedding fair was amazing, rooms of very talented creative friendly people all together in a fantastic location ( The old bakery studios) passionate about weddings and producing some totally beautiful amazing things. Sarah Drew, the amazing vintage jewelery designer organised the fair, and her stand was incredible, the headbands looked so lovely and everyone who tried one on I think will be buying.
